Coronation Street SHOCK: Sally and Tim’s marriage in ruins after massive new twist confirmed!

Beloved couple Sally and Tim Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor and Joe Duttine) have navigated a lot in their marriage in Coronation Street – and they’re about to face another difficult challenge.

Last year, Tim was pleasantly surprised when he bumped into a woman called Trisha. He revealed to Sally and pal Brian Packham (Peter Gunn) that he was in a relationship with Trisha back in the day. While Tim reflected on this era of his life with a smile on his face, Sally and Brian were deeply concerned.

They learnt that Trisha took Tim’s virginity when he was 14 and she was 20, and Brian didn’t hesitate in saying that he was groomed.

Tim was stunned and immediately defended the woman.

In the days that followed, Sally also attempted to get Tim to accept that Trisha sexually abused him, but he seemed adamant that their relationship was not inappropriate.

Elsewhere for the couple, Sally and Tim have been facing parental challenges of a different kind. They are now foster parents to Michaelis children Shanice, Joanie and Brody, and are navigating the hurdles that come with looking after these siblings, who came from a broken home.

So, that’s the past and the present covered, but what about the future?

Producer of the show Kate Brooks recently confirmed Sally and Tim will be facing some more drama over the coming months, and it focuses on their journey as foster parents.

‘There’s a massive story for Sally and Tim that comes to the to the fore, and it’s a story that tests them as people, test them as a couple, but tests them as foster parents as well’, she explained.

‘It’s a bit of a curveball, and it comes from slightly left field, but absolutely upends their lives. It’s how they navigate that situation going forward. Sally and Tim are so beloved, and I just adore them. And it’s seeing them in a slightly different position than what we’ve seen them in before.

Kate also revealed: ‘That story will also dovetail further down the line with a Christina story. Christina and George are a really great, strong couple in the show. It’s those friendships alive. There’s a connection there as well.’

As for Tim’s story with Trisha, Kate confirmed that his experiences will impact how the aftermath of Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) abusing Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) plays out.

‘Tim’s going to be so instrumental in kind of making them realise what’s gone on and how unacceptable and how wrong it was’, she said.
