BEYOND SHOCKING! Coronation Street’s Theo star finally REVEALS the killer’s identity?

You’d be hard pressed to find many residents of Coronation Street who had anything remotely nice to say about Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) in the wake of his death.

The man was a cruel, sadistic abuser who systematically attempted to destroy Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce), employing every conceivable form of abuse to break him down and torture him, and, once his true colours were exposed to the Weatherfield populace, made no effort to conceal the beast within that he’d previously gone to great lengths to hide.

While most would happily forget that Theo ever existed, that’s an impossibility right now, as Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) and Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) are currently in hot pursuit of the resident who personally saw to his death via an almighty whack to the head.

Making up the official suspect list are his long-suffering ex-wife, Danielle Silverton (Natalie Anderson), Todd’s father figure and closest confidante, George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), his girlfriend Christina Boyd (Amy Robbins), Theo’s former best friend and certified bully-basher, Gary Windass (Mikey North), the adoptive daughter of Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) who Theo killed, Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby), and Todd himself.

As the Corrie coppers begin to pick apart the web of secrets, lies and mystery that surrounds the dark act, James Cartwright himself weighed in on the mystery this past weekend at the BAFTA Television Awards 2026.

James teased the Radio Times: ‘If I told you, I’d have to kill you. Is that a price you’re willing to pay?’

‘It’s been a really exciting time to be part of the show and listen – it’s not who you think it is.

‘So it could be Summer. Unlikely, but she could have hit him with a can of beans, put him out the back of the shop. It could be George – you know, he’s a big boy, and he’s already thumped him. It could be Pauline [McGlynn]…there’s so many people that it could be!’

James gushed further over his involvement in the murder week storyline: ‘My gosh, it was so exciting, and I feel so honoured and blessed to have been at the show at the time, and I think it’s really, really thriving.’

‘And I think that you had two! You had a double whammy.

‘You had who was gonna die, and then who’s done the murder. So you had two bites at the same cherry.’

Next week sees George and Christina discover Summer’s journal. Viewers have previously seen her re-reading a page, covered in scrawl about Theo’s monstrous true nature, but they discover a new page, complete with Summer describing holding a gun to his head.

As they leaf through the journal, discovering page after page describing her deep fury and hatred, they begin to believe that Summer could have put a permanent end to Theo.

‘With the discovery of this private journal that Summer scribbles her thoughts into, I think she is panicked because she knows that it looks really bad.

‘Whether she’s guilty or innocent, this journal is not a good thing for anybody else to see, because it does implicate her.

‘So I think that she is scrambling and clutching at straws of how to get around this, to get around the fact that they found this journal containing her darkest thoughts.’

Kit later makes a huge discovery, and Summer is dragged in for interrogation by Lisa.

Talking about her alter-ego’s mindset, Harriet said: ‘I think she’s panicking, there has never been a situation like this that Summer has even been close to.

‘She’s also thinking about Billy, what would he think of me now, that’s in the back of her head, and that makes her panics even more.

‘Whether you’re innocent or guilty, sitting in a police station being questioned over someone’s murder is horrific.

‘So she’s just in panic mode and she knows that there are these things stacking up against her, it doesn’t look good and it’s how she can get around these pieces of what look like evidence against her.’
