Coronation Street shocker: Megan’s nightmare is FAR from over after this chilling twist!
Amid all the glamour and sass she brings to Coronation Street, Eva Price’s (Catherine Tyldesley) defining characteristic is her fierce loyalty to her family, and it seems her daughter Susie Price (Aurora Bradshaw) has inherited that trait…along with a hearty helping of the sass.
The Driscoll family have been plunged into abject hell ever since arriving in Weatherfield to take over the Rovers Return. Ben (Aaron McCusker) has discovered that the man he’s always thought to be his dad isn’t, with him actually being a result of his mum, Maggie’s (Pauline McLynn) affair with Jim McDonald (Charles Lawson), something he only discovered when Maggie feared that Ollie (Raphael Akuwudike) would sleep with his cousin, Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney).
On top of learning who his real dad is, he’s also learned he may have inherited the heart condition that killed him. In addition, the explosive revelation that his youngest son, Will (Lucas Hodgson-Wale), has been groomed and sexually abused by his paedophile sports coach, Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) has rocked the clan.
Megan’s grooming goes back a long while, and another victim or her manipulation is Sam Blakeman (Jude Riordan), the step-son of Eva’s sister,Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson). Megan tormented and tortured him so sadistically that he’s now suffering serious mental health problems. Despite him telling the family what Megan had been doing, Will’s silence and a lack of material evidence meant there was little that the police could do.
With so many of her loved ones affected by Megan, Eva teamed up with Leanne and Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor) to force a confession from her but ultimately, Megan’s complete refusal to admit to anything and iron-clad resolve meant that no amount of intimidation could break her.
When all seemed lost, with Will still deeply under Megan’s thrall, it was an unlikely interference from Tim Metcalfe (Joe Duttine) that finally saw him realise how badly he’d been manipulated and, ultimately, abused.
As Will attempted to reach the airport in Tim’s taxi, where he planned to flee the country with Megan, Ben and Eva discovered he’d taken his passport and quickly cottoned on to what was going on. Contacting Tim and ensuring he didn’t let Will out of his sight, Tim decided to open up about his own experience of abuse with Trisha Pinkerton (Anita Booth) as an underage boy with an adult woman.
While Tim had previously brushed the relationship off as ‘things being different’ back then, the revelation of Will’s abuse has led him to reframe his thoughts. Initially disagreeing with Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) that he’d been abused, Tim now saw the interaction for what it truly was.
Driving Will to the police station, Tim gave him the option of fleeing, or reporting Megan, and it became apparent that his words had struck something deep inside Will when he headed into the station, reuniting with his family and finally made an official police statement, detailing just what Megan had done to him.
Of course, that’s not the end, though, and as Will tries to adjust in the aftermath, the family, also bruised by the entire ordeal, continue to face drama and adversity.
In our spoiler clip, Eva drags Susie home from school and reports to Ben that she has thrown a bottle of pop at Chesney Brown (Sam Aston) and Gemma Winter’s (Dolly-Rose Campbell) son, Bryn’s (James Holt) head.
