š„ Emmerdale Shock! Chris Coghill Breaks Silence With Just TWO Words on Kevās Return
The Kev Townsend star broke his silence on his character’s return to the ITV soap
Emmerdale star Chris Coghill took to his social media and issued a two word response as Kev returns to the Dales.
When ITV confirmed that established actor Chris Coghill would be making hisĀ Emmerdale debut as Chris Coghill earlier this year, viewers attempted to figure out exactly who he was, and what he could be doing in the village.
It came as quite a shock then when Kev introduced himself as Robert Sugden’s prison husband – with the character having only just returned to theĀ ITVĀ soap himself to try and win back Aaron Dingle.
Robert was in shock as he stood face to face with his secret husband, expecting not to see him again. Kev announced that he was terminally ill, and only had months to live.
While the promise of his inheritance brightened Robert’s day, he decided to keep their relationship going until he died – much to Aaron and Victoria’s dismay, of course.
However, it was soon revealed that Kev was not terminally ill, a truth that was uncovered by Dr Liam Cavanagh who accidentally became the getaway driver in Kev’s latest armed robbery.

In the end, Robert decided to break up with Kev but when the latter learned that he was back with Aaron, things swiftly escalated in the soap. Kev decided the best course of action would be to attack them by breaking into their home, wielding a weapon.
Liam Cavanagh also ended up arriving, meaning the trio were all against Kev as they attempted to calm him down. Realising there was nothing left for him in the village without Robert and Nicola King blackmailing him to leave his son, LewisĀ BartonĀ alone, it was time for Kev to leave.
However, a new trailer for Emmerdale that aired on ITV showed Kev back in the Dales, threatening Aaron and Robert. In the trailer, we see Aaron’s car window being smashed, a fire, and a random bullet being found. It’s then that we spot Kev sneaking around the village watching the couple. But how far will Kev go to get his revenge?
Taking to his Instagram, Chris teased: “Eh up” as he shared the trailer with viewers who were excited to see the fan favourite “villain” return to the Dales.
Actor Ryan Hawley previously said about Kev: “He’s something very different, volatile and dangerous. Not in a calculated way, but in a very unhinged, unpredictable way. Also, there’s something redeemable. You kind of feel sorry for him.”
Meanwhile, Chris previously shared that he was unsure whether to take on the role as he’d only be in the soap for a short time. He said: “I like Emmerdale and Iād like to be around for a bit, so Iād want to come and do something that had some potential longevity.
“But when I was told what the character was and I came in and was told they werenāt meeting anybody else I thought, actually this sounds like a right laugh.”
Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
