đ„ Boston Blue: Danny Reagan and Maria Baez Finally Reveal What They’re Doing About Their Long-Distance Relationship đ„

Danny Reagan isnât letting anything get in the way of his relationship with Maria Baez â even if his new gig in Boston keeps him busy.
On the Friday, Nov. 21, episode of CBSâ Boston Blue, Donnie Wahlbergâs Danny and Marisa Ramirezâs Baez share their most screen time together on the series so far, as the sixth episode fills fans in on Dannyâs work-life balance while they navigate making things work long distance.
The episode, which follows the Boston Police Department crew investigating a series of increasingly violent home invasions, opens with Danny and Baez popping some champagne in his new apartment.
âItâs been almost a month since we were together, so yes, I thought we should celebrate,â Danny says, before Baez teases him for his lack of furniture.
Unfortunately for their plans, Danny gets a work call and has to reschedule the celebration with his girlfriend â who previously served as his partner at the New York Police Department and sparked a romance with him at the tail end of Blue Bloods. These days, Danny is stationed over in Boston to keep an eye on his son Sean, but heâs apparently having some trouble making things mesh.
âItâs okay, if anyone understands the demands of the job, itâs your old partner,â Baez tells Danny, before he promises lunch in a âbeautiful locationâ and spending all day âstaringâ into her eyes.

Later in the episode, Danny tells current partner Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green) that Baez âgets itâ when it comes to his haphazard schedule with the BPD. âDonât feel bad, she knows the job. Plus I sent her some flowers,â he says.
Well, he seems to be right, as Baez makes her first appearance on Dannyâs new turf as she pulls up to the police station later â bringing a cup of coffee for both him and Lena. She also offers him some assistance on their latest case (âYouâve still got it detective,â he tells her).
During their rescheduled lunch, Baez tells Danny that sheâs still âgetting my head around Brooklyn living in Beantown.â
âIâm not used to this city,â Danny responds. âLook, when I got the call that Sean was hurt in a fire⊠Maria I had to move here.â
While their date ends abruptly (yet again), Danny finally introduces Lena and Baez a few scenes later, before Baez eventually breaks the news to Danny that she has to head back to Brooklyn after getting a lead on the homicide.
âI guess the distance between Boston and New York is a lot farther than we thought,â she says, before revealing sheâs been âprayingâ he comes back home, but doesnât want him to be sorry for his absence.
After Danny asks her to stay at his place for five more minutes, he spins a record on the turntable and they share a romantic dance. âWeâre gonna make it. I know we are,â he says.
The long-distance discussions between Danny and Baez come weeks after Ramirezâs first appearance on Boston Blue during the showâs premiere episode on Oct. 17. Since then, Baez has been mentioned â and has shown her face â a handful of times, with showrunners Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier telling TVLine that thereâs more of their relationship in store.
âBaez will return â multiple times in the first season â and itâs a story weâre going to tell,â Margolis said. âThe struggle of moving to a new place and what you leave behind is front and center, and that includes the relationship with Baez, which continues for multiple episodes this season.â
Boston Blue airs Fridays at 10 p.m. ET on CBS. Episodes are available the following day to watch on-demand via Paramount+.
