Theo has made his way back to Salem after a two-year absence, and this time, the role is being played by newcomer Tyler Joseph Andrews. On Days of Our Lives, Theo’s return puts him back into the orbit of his Carver and DiMera relatives, while also opening the door for romantic entanglements. Off screen, Andrews has been busy adjusting to daytime’s fast pace, making the move from film and primetime guest work into the world of soaps. Andrews recently offered insight into how he’s tackling the role and why fans should expect some surprises.

Stepping Into Theo’s World

Andrews talked with Dishin’ Days and explained that because Theo is on the autism spectrum, he chose to use care and collaborate with the show’s creative team. “So that was the first conversation I had with the directors and the producers,” he recalled, emphasizing how important it was to understand how Theo views the world. He watched earlier episodes to ground himself, but wanted to bring his own interpretation. “There’s always a little bit of difference in how actors play certain things or how they look at certain things and then how that character views the world,” he stated.

He went on to share that he approached the role by asking what Theo might have experienced in the two years he was off-screen. This gap gave him freedom to imagine growth, change, and new influences, while still honoring the core of his character.

Balancing the Past and the Future

Andrews stated that the process wasn’t easy since he was trying to juggle his instincts with input from various directors and producers. “It’s difficult because you know you’re playing the line of respecting the character,” he explained, adding, “but also having to listen to your directors and work with them and try to tell the story as best as possible.”

Despite the challenge, Andrews expressed confidence that his take on Theo will connect with viewers.
