Skint Cheryl Fergison lands acting job weeks after flogging belongings at sales

CHERYL Fergison has finally landed a new acting gig, amid openly talking about being close to broke.

The EastEnders alum, 60, who played Heather Trott from 2007 until 2012 before her character was killed off, is set to star in Ireland’s first ever social media soap opera, Centra Deli Drama.

Cheryl featured in nearly 400 episodes of EastEnders, playing HeatherTrott

Playing the character of Pam, an estranged sister, Cheryl’s arrival at the deli causes a tornado of conflict and chaos with her sister Sharon (Jennifer Zamparelli).

Other stars listed in the line up so far include Sorcha Morgan, Amanda Stewart, Carl McGuire, Job Oueno, and David Nully.

The show will follow the everyday stories that unfold behind the deli counter, from the mundane to the marvellous.

Centra is actually a real deli shop with over 500 stores nationwide, independently owned and run by local people.

In line with this, non-celebs as well as workers at some of the locations are set to feature in the programme too.

Cheryl proved popular as an actress during her EastEnders day, after initially only being due to feature as a guest in 2007.

But after rapidly becoming popular with fans, she was taken on as a full-time cast member.

To date she’s features in 386 episodes of EastEnders, though she’s struggled to find stable work since.

Cheryl been battling against bankruptcy recently after discovering she had been left penniless by her accountant.

In her autobiography, Behind The Scenes, she shared a bit more about what happened.

“For five years, I paid him.

“For five years, he pocketed the money and didn’t pay a single penny to HMRC.

“Everything I had built, saved and worked for was gone.

“I don’t use the word hate very often. It’s a heavy word, one you can’t always take back, but in this case, I meant it. I hated him.”

CAR BOOT QUEEN

Since then, Cheryl has been spotted out and about selling her personal possessions at car boot sales for as little as 33p to help her get by.

“Going broke when you’re famous is the worst, because everyone expects you to have lots of money.

“People assume that you’re minted. They don’t imagine you’re juggling overdrafts, maxed-out credit cards, payday loans and mountains of bills.

“But that was exactly where I found myself.”

The first episode of Centra Deli Drama aired on Thursday exclusively on Centra’s social media channels.
