EastEnders star Colin Salmon has provided a health update on his wife following her surgery for illness.
Joining the BBC soap in 2023 as George Knight, it’s been a hectic period for Colin’s character this summer as he navigates a series of hurdles

After splitting up with his wife Elaine Peacock, George has recently begun seeing villain Nicola Mitchell in a heated affair.
George’s romance has been central to his time on Albert Square, with his son Junior’s romance with his ex-wife Cindy Beale, who he met in the witness protection programme, exposed at Christmas.
On top of this, George is dealing with his brother Kojo becoming friends with Harry Mitchell, who got him involved in selling drugs for Ravi Gulati.
Away from the soap, Colin has been married to visual artist Fiona Hawthorne, who he has four children with, since 1988.
Fiona suffers from a rare condition called interstitial lung disease, which has left her dependent on an oxygen tank

Colin has been open about his wife’s health struggles in the past, previously stating he ‘couldn’t be far from home’ due to her condition.
Following her diagnosis, Fiona was placed on steroids and received chemotherapy for the condition, which makes it difficult for a person’s oxygen to enter the bloodstream.
Appearing on Good Morning Britain this week to promote his one million minutes campaign on loneliness, Colin provided a positive health update on Fiona.
“Well, I think at the time I mentioned my wife was unwell, which has been resolved. My wife is well, she had the surgery, and I bought a house in America on July 1, we’re in a completely different place.
“Being in Walford, part of the plan for me was, I always see the BBC as the university of broadcasting, so there I can learn and there I may get the opportunity to start to go down that road with really great crews to make sure I get it right” he said.
Elsewhere in the interviews, Colin brought up that a ‘disturbing’ EastEnders storyline is on the way that looks to stun viewers.
He teased: “We’ve got another storyline you haven’t seen before. I did the farming storyline.
“We have another storyline that is perfect for this time, it’s real, it’s really disturbing, and it’s coming. I can’t tell you what it is.”
The farming storyline Colin mentioned saw George learn his parents were paid to take him in rather than adopt him of their own choosing.
