Coronation Street star Aidan O’Callaghan has taken a trip down memory lane to his time on the cobbles, while also confirming the end of his stint.
Aidan took on the role of Alan Driscoll in a dramatic flashback episode last December, which revealed the shocking secret Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) had been hiding.
It transpired that Maggie had killed Alan by pushing him down the stairs, and son Finlay had witnessed it.
This has since come back to haunt her in recent scenes, and she was forced to admit the truth to Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker) after being blackmailed by Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon).
Taking to Instagram, Aidan shared a montage of moments from behind the scenes of the ITV soap as he recalled his time playing the character.
‘Alan may be gone..but the drama isn’t,’ he wrote beside the post, referencing the scenes that saw Ben throw Maggie out after learning the truth.
‘Last night Weatherfield hasn’t forgotten him and neither have I.’
Aidan’s followers were quick to comment, with one writing: ‘Love it’.
Others called for the actor to return to the soap in the role of Maggie and Alan’s son, Finlay. Though Finlay has been mentioned a lot, he has yet to appear on screen.
‘Was also thinking you could be Finn. Would be great casting,’ one commenter wrote, with Aidan clearly backing the suggestion with his reply of ‘100%’.
‘They should bring you back in as Maggie’s son fin,’ another said.
Fin has been mentioned a lot recently, with Ben’s ex-wife Melanie previously telling Maggie that he was the only member of the Driscoll family she kept in contact with.

It was during this conversation that Mel revealed that Finlay had told her what he’d seen that fateful night, unaware that predator Megan was listening in.
With Mel and Megan both looking to use their knowledge against her, Maggie had no choice but to come clean to Ben. It obviously didn’t go down well, with Ben ultimately throwing Maggie out.
