Emmerdale star Mark Charnock has teased that the upcoming special episode with Marlon Dingle and April Windsor is going to be one worth waiting for.

Recently, April has been forced into the world of drug dealing and ‘entertaining’ clients by evil Ray Walters. She tried to escape from his clutches with boyfriend Dylan Penders, but only ended up making things worse.

The special episode airing this Tuesday (4 November) will only feature Marlon and April, as she considers telling her dad the truth about what she’s been going through.

Marlon’s world was previously turned upside down when April went missing last Christmas, so how will he react if April does decide to confide in him?

Charnock is keeping tight-lipped about what will go down in the episode for now, but did tease that “there’s a twist in it that will stagger the audience”.

Explaining the set up for the episode, the actor said: “April was going to come to a Halloween party with the rest of the family, she doesn’t turn up and Marlon’s really sad about it. So she turns up at the house and he’s on his own and the episode begins.

“It’s lovely actually, with them rediscovering the younger version of her and how that was for them when she was really little.

“The first act, if you like, is about him rediscovering his daughter, the daughter he knew before everything tragic that happened to her, and her rediscovering not only her dad but that part of herself too, so it’s really something.”

He was also full of praise for the producers for trusting him with the episode, the writers for turning in an “outstanding” script, and co-star Amelia Flanagan.

“I’ve said it so many times now, she is a remarkable actress and she can summon emotion on the spot,” he said.

“She’s got older and she does this thing now where you can see so much going on in her eyes as well as her voice and her physicality. She’s got all the tools to carry on being a really quite brilliant actress.”

Two other special episodes will focus on Robert Sugden and Bear Wolf.
