Coronation Street fans rumble Lisa Swain’s ‘motive’ as fresh Carla Connor heartbreak confirmed
Spoilers for the ITV soap have seemingly confirmed that there isn’t a reconciliation on the cards for the couple
Coronation Street think they may – or hope they have – rumbled Lisa Swain’s ‘motive’ as it was revealed that there is more heartbreak on the way for her and Carla Connor.
Fans of the ITV soap have been championing the couple, dubbed ‘Swarla’, ever since they gave into their feelings for one another around a year ago. But it’s fair to say their fairly new relationship has been anything but easy.

At the start of the year, Carla was left fighting for her life after contracting sepsis before needing a kidney transplant. Step in her jailed brother, Rob Donnovan, who was enlisted to help save her life, only to try and take it again when he held her hostage at No.1 Coronation Street.
Meanwhile, Lisa found herself being triggered by her past, particularly following the death of her colleague, PC Craig Tinker, as it reminded her of losing her late wife, Becky, in the line of duty.
However, her life has since been turned on its head as the previously mentioned Becky gave her the shock of her life by turning up in the living room of her new home, No.6 Coronation Street, on their daughter, Betsy’s, 18th birthday.
Becky, who claimed she was hiding out in Spain, having been put into witness protection following an undercover operation gone wrong, has since been getting in between Lisa and Carla, with a clear intention to get her family back together, whatever it takes.

Last week, Lisa begged Carla not to make her choose between their relationship and Betsy’s relationship with Becky, but the Underworld factory boss felt like her partner’s decision had already been made and she left the house in emotional scenes.
Ryan Connor helped convince Carla to go home, however, before she got inside, she saw a happy-looking Lisa decorating the Christmas tree alongside Becky, quickly putting a stop to a reunion.
Since then, spoilers for next week’s Corrie have revealed that Carla will head back to No.6, telling Lisa that she’s home and should never have left, while also admitting she never stopped loving her.
However, while Lisa does admit she loves her too, she asserts that it’s too late and it’s over between them, leaving Carla devastated and their future even more uncertain.
But having read what’s to come, some Corrie fans aren’t convinced that all is as it seems. @Fake_TV_Chef said: “I want to believe Lisa not wanting to get back together with Carla is about protecting her from crazy Becky but what if it’s simply that Lisa doesn’t want to continue on the same cycle because their issues (Becky) are still their issues. #Swarla #Corrie.”
@NatCaves commented: “The spoiler with Lisa saying there’s no way back for her and Carla. Definitely has got to be something more to this. She’s clocked on and it’s that keep your friends close, keep your enemies closer type thing and is protecting Carla. Surely, right? #swarla.” @DaviesJenn7051 shared: “Monday: Lisa tells Carla its her she wants to be with. Wednesday: Lisa walks in on becky in middle of attempted murder. Friday: Lisa has done a 180 & tells Carla she loves her but they’re over. Please tell me this is Lisas eyes opening & her protecting Carla #swarla.”
@MorlesSosa posted: “We are definitely missing a whole lot of context either Lisa has emotionally shut down even further due to Becky & wants to spare Carla pain or is protecting her As this change makes no sense given how heartbroken she was #Swarla #Corrie.” @TheConnorSwains added: “Nah, I ain’t buying it… There’s summat else going on here with Lisa. She either protecting Carla by pushing her away or Becky is in the house and this is for her benefit! She’s on to Becky by now…surely! #Swarla #Corrie.”
