Coronation Street fan theory reveals two dark stories will merge in emotional scenes
Coronation Street fans have predicted that the respective stories involving Will Driscoll and Tim Metcalfe could merge in the future. With the pair both involved in dark arcs, could emotional scenes be on the way?
Will finally arrived in Weatherfield on Wednesday (5 November) as he made the trip from Kingston upon Hull, eventually joining his family after they had already settled in their new surroundings.
While Ben, Ollie and Maggie have all appeared happy with their new home, Will has struggled more with acclimating. He expressed his intention to move back to Hull, and it was revealed that he was being groomed by his former athletics coach, Megan.
Tim, meanwhile, has been dealing with the fallout following his trip down memory lane. Last month, the character bumped into former flame Trisha, with whom he had a relationship when he was just 14.
Given that Trisha was 20 at the time of the relationship, both Brian and Sally pointed out that he was a victim of grooming, though Tim didn’t see it that way. Despite their reasoning, Tim said he was fine and that Trisha was a thing of the past.
Due to the symmetry in the respective storylines, several viewers have shared theories that Will’s situation could illuminate Tim on his own past, with the end result potentially being the emotional realisation that he was a victim.
“Keen to see how this plays out when Tim catches wind and realises he was in a similar position all those years ago,” wrote one viewer on Instagram, with another replying: “nice connection! Oh my god that would be interesting.”
Another viewer echoed this sentiment, writing: “This will definitely tie in with the Tim storyline. When he sees a current situation of a young teenage boy and a woman – he’ll reflect on what happened to him in a different light.”
“Grooming that will make Tim realise what happened to him was grooming after all?” asked another viewer, while one other fan noted: “This is exactly what I thought. This is going to link in with Tim.”
