It’s a milestone in TV history.
ABC’s “Grey’s Anatomy” – the longest-running medical drama in the U.S. – is celebrating its 450th episode, and On The Red Carpet was on-site at the happy occasion where cast members shared their thoughts about being a part of the historic moment.
“I’m completely buzzing. I mean this show is historic every day just because of the people I get to work with, the stories we tell, how long we’ve been telling them. And I feel the reverence of that every day,” star Alexis Floyd says.
Jason George, who’s been a part of the show since season 6 (now on season 22) and starred in the spinoff “Station 19,” explains, “The show’s as good as it’s ever been. The feels are there. The comedy that comes in – the way it gets you laughing and then crying in the middle of a laugh, or it gets you crying then laughing in the middle of a cry – that for me is the reason why I fell in love with the show.”
“I would have never thought, 20-some odd years ago, this show would still be going on. It’s been pretty amazing,” James Pickens Jr. tells us. He’s been a part of the show since its premiere in 2005.
Longtime fans of the show should be on the lookout for lots of special moments in the episode.
Chandra Wilson, who has also been a part of “Grey’s” since the beginning tells us what to look for. “What I can say is there will be things throughout, Easter eggs throughout, that’ll make the fans really happy. We have to do some callback things, some throwback things in order to commemorate that time.”
One of the show’s star’s, Kevin McKidd, had the honor of directing it.
“For me it’s such fun to be able to film those moments and put them on the screen as a sort of love letter to the fans and their loyalty,” McKidd says.
“Grey’s Anatomy’s” 450th episode premieres TONIGHT at 10/9c on ABC and streams the next day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
