Coronation Street ‘to bring back’ Aidan Connor after 7 years in Eva twist

Coronation Street fans are convinced that Aidan Connor will make a return to the cobbles after eight years, following his ex Eva Price’s recent comeback

Coronation Street viewers are speculating that a comeback might be on the cards for Aidan Connor.

Aidan, portrayed by Shayne Ward, first graced the cobbles of the ITV soap in 2015, arriving as Carla Connor’s (Alison King) half-brother and Johnny Connor’s (Richard Hawley) son.

It’s safe to say that Aidan quickly became a hit with viewers. The boss of Underworld Factory was involved in numerous major storylines over the years, including his many unsuccessful love affairs.

In 2017, he embarked on an affair with Maria (Samia Longchambon) while being engaged to Eva Price (Catherine Tyldesley). In true soap opera style, the truth eventually surfaced, resulting in a dramatic catfight between Maria and Eva at the wedding.

However, in 2018, Aidan began to privately battle depression and suicidal thoughts. This culminated in him tragically taking his own life later that year, reports the Daily Star.

Aidan’s passing had a profound impact on his loved ones, particularly Eva, who had recently given birth to their daughter, Susie. Recently though, Eva made a surprising return to the street after nearly a decade.

Not only has Eva returned to the cobbles, but she also brought along Susie and her new family: partner Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker), his mum Maggie (Pauline McLynn) and his two sons Ollie (Raphael Akuwudike) and Will (Lucas Hodgson-Wale).

However, with Eva’s return to the cobbles, viewers are now speculating that Aidan Connor might make a comeback through a hallucination sequence. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer commented: “Now that Eva is back maybe Aidan could come back as a hallucination at some point.”

Another posted: “They’ve done it before so never say never.” A third enthused: “Aw I’d so love that!” Supporting this theory, someone else remarked: “I’ve been thinking that as well.”

Meanwhile, earlier this year, the actor who portrayed Aidan teased a possible return to Weatherfield following his character’s heartbreaking death. Reflecting on his cobbles legacy as Aidan, Shayne shared: “I loved it. I was very honoured that I was trusted with that incredible suicide storyline for mental health for men. I’m really proud of it.”

The star also confessed that he longs to be back on the soap, and regularly imagines returning to Weatherfield. “There’s times when I’m thinking what I’d give to walk on those cobbles again, which I probably will do with my kids to show them what it feels like to walk on the cobbles, the famous ones,” he said.

“But I had a great time, and I learnt from some of the best on there, so very lucky guy.”
