One of Emmerdale’s biggest ever characters ‘dies’ in huge early ITVX twist

Warning: This article contains spoilers from Emmerdale’s episode of November 4, now available to watch on ITVX.
When we heard about a special episode between Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and his devastatingly troubled daughter April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan), we knew we were in for some heart-wrenching drama.
But never did we expect it to go the way it did—and I will eat my hat if you don’t spend some time with your jaw on the floor.
I’m not about to give away all the twists before you’ve had a chance to watch, don’t worry – but for those who HAVE seen it already, you’ll know exactly what I am on about.
The episode’s concept is April catching up with her dad, Marlon, feeling vulnerable and with nowhere to turn after Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) told her she owned her.
April had killed the man who had paid to rape her, and Celia ordered Ray (Joe Absolom) to cover up the body, while reminding April that her mess had been cleared up by them again.

Celia added that she would kill those closest to April if she ever breathed a word, and, for now, Marlon has no idea what is going on.
Today’s episode focuses entirely on the fractured relationship between Marlon and April, as she arrives home with the world clearly on her shoulders.
Given that he never wants to lose her like he did when she went missing for months, Marlon has to play things tactfully and go at April’s pace as he senses something she wants to tell him.

We see the real childlike vulnerability of April as we witness her bond with her dad and her desire to just be a carefree young person and be able to enjoy laughing with family and dressing up for Halloween.
It’s both heartwarming and painful at the same time, and the bond between actors Mark and Amelia as father and daughter is palpable in the performances, while Caroline Mitchell’s deep script is steeped with impactful dialogue between the pair.
But, as Mark recently warned Metro when we caught up with him about the episode, there are twists you won’t see coming and that will shake everything up – and he wasn’t exactly exaggerating.

While I will keep the main build-up and twists a closely guarded secret, the life of one of Emmerdale’s most beloved ever characters is put on the line in a huge way that will leave you sobbing into your supper while dialing Ofcom, the government, and your best mate to have a cry with.
April does open up about her ordeal to Marlon, and her agony is laid bare, but you will forget to breathe as the episode then takes a major turn.
Can Marlon and April recover from their biggest challenge to date, or will the tragic outcome have repercussions that will change Emmerdale forever?
You will have to watch to find out…
