Off in the park, Philip yanks the bugged pen out of his pocket, safely contained in a plastic baggy. (To avoid contamination?) He assures Xander it doesn’t work anymore, but his brother is losing it, figuring that whoever’s been looking for dirt on the merger put it in their office.

They fight over whether or not they should have kept the bug to feed bad intel, but Xander’s already sure their secret’s out. Titan’s in danger. Which is why legal needs to get Philip’s co-CEO papers need to be drawn up, ASAP. Circle the wagons, the brothers need to stick together!

Days In the park, Philip holds his hand up to Xander, while he holds a plastic bag in his other hand

OK, Philip’s in. They start with suspects: All DiMeras, naturally. Anyone going to the office daily. Well that didn’t narrow it down.

Is Cat Busted Already?

EJ’s on the phone with Rita to make sure the construction crew all signs their NDAs. He’s not risking this project. But that’s probably a lost cause since Cat’s at the hospital taking photos of the blueprints as he speaks. Then Gwen walks into EJ’s office just as she’s rolling them back up!

Cat makes up some nonsense about wanting to get a head start on starting her job tomorrow, while Gwen claims she just wanted to see EJ’s new digs since she was in the hospital anyway. As for the rolled up blueprints… Don’t mind them, Cat says! She just knocked them off the desk and was trying to tidy up.

She pivots to asking a favor of Gwen: Any pointers to stay on EJ’s good side? Nah. Then Cat tries comparing EJ to Dimitri, so, fine, Gwen shares some tips that she’s observed. EJ’s a stickler for punctuality, scotch is his favorite drink (will he be drinking on the job??), no smelly perfumes and no one but momma Susan can call him “Elvis.” Let’s do that lunch, Gwen smiles fakely and heads out.

Is Gabi Still Safe?

Gabi sneaks into the CEO office to find it a total mess. “Oh no!” She pulls out her phone — not to call the cleaners — but to check on the pen. “They found the bug!” She hurries over to the DiMera mansion looking for Tony, only to find EJ and engage in their favorite pastime: trading insults.

Days Gabi enters Philip and Xander's empty office looking shocked, holding her phone in her hand

More: Tony has big plans for the return of [spoiler]!

Gabi claims she was looking for Anna to collaborate on Gabi Chic, then tries running out. But EJ wants to talk about Stefan, but Gabi’s heard nothing from him. Only Vivian has, EJ points out. “Something just feels… off.” Gabi laughs in his face about his faux concern, goes for the jugular bringing up Johnny and Belle, then sweeps out of the mansion.

Will Chad Turn On Mark?

Chad awkwardly pushes his cake around as Jennifer and Jack try checking with their son-in-law about how hard he fought to ruin Mark’s parole. Turns out, not very hard. He’s not sure he wants to fight to keep Mark in prison. Jennifer knows exactly what’s going on: Cat!

She and Jack are not happy, especially when Chad tries defending Mark and Cat. Jack takes a breath, tries telling Chad that his statement is the most important one. “Do it for your kids, Chad. And for Abigail.” Oof, that’s a cruel tactic.

Chad stand his ground, though, which infuriates Jen. “I will never forgive Clyde Weston or the Greenes,” she snaps. Then the kids run in and Jennifer glares hard at Chad, then goes to greet her beloved grandchildren. Thomas was tasked with taking photos of Charlotte on her first day of kindergarten (wow, schools are really lax with phones), which gives Chad an exit, so he runs out for “a meeting,” while his in-laws are distracted.

Thomas talks about his new classmate, Rachel, who corrected the teacher and is obsessed with reptiles. “Imagine that,” Jack fake marvels over Kristen’s daughter’s affinity for snakes. Then they get upset anew when they find out Thomas played mini golf with the Greenes. They send Thomas off, then Jennifer launches into a self-righteous screed against Cat, which Thomas overhears.

Do Xander and Philip Suspect Gabi?

Xander and Philip get back to their office, hoping the security crew have finished their sweep. Gabi hurries back in, pretending to be shocked, shocked at the mess. The fellas tell her about the bug and demand to know if she knows anything about it. Good heavens, no! Gabi’s totally innocent! Why would she betray them?

The guys buy it, thanks to Gabi having sworn on her daughter’s life she didn’t file the FOIA request. Sure, airtight logic there, fellas… Gabi plays along worrying over if her office is bugged, too, then just swallows as Philip says they won’t rest until they find out who did it.

In the Show’s Final Moments

Cat gets home and leaves a message with Rafe about what she found. And then Chad shows up for his “meeting” and assures Cat he isn’t mad over her bringing up Mark. Jack and Jennifer are gunning for him, but he won’t. His in-laws will just have to deal and get used to Cat. It’s time to move on!

Xander takes a break from worrying over total destruction to invite Philip to Victoria’s birthday party tomorrow. Family first! Gabi calls Tony in a panic, and leaves a message laying it all out while she’s standing in the middle of the square. Super covert, congrats, Gabi.

Gwen rushes home and EJ tells her about Kristen’s sentence. Gwen’s sad, but gets over it fast. She tells him about Cat in his office. With his blueprints. “What the bloody hell are we gonna do?!”

Gwen reminds him that half his hospital money came from her and demands to know his plan. EJ takes his time telling Gwen that Cat saw the public plans, not the real ones. By November, the DiMera Family Free Clinic will be unveiled. “But they’ll have no idea what we’re really up to.” Well. That sounds ominous.
