Sophia’s time goose is cooked on Days of Our Lives. There’s no way around it. Her lies may be enough to keep Tate at bay, other than yelling at her, but they aren’t working anymore with Brady. Lest we forget that his dad was one of Salem’s greatest spies and private investigators, Brady just put together all the clues to figure out that Sophia and Tate’s baby is, in fact, in Javi’s care.

So naturally, he turned to his father’s most trusted partner, Steve, for confirmation, and Patch has called in Rafe to help get the DNA evidence to prove the theory. Barring some left field natural disaster derailing this, there doesn’t seem to be any way out of this for Sophia.

But once the truth comes out, Tate’s going to have a whole new set of problems to contend with. The struggle is only going to get worse.

Brady “believes in family,” Eric Martsolf tells Soaps. “His father was John Black, for God’s sakes, the pinnacle of goodness! And he brought Tate back into Salem for the best of reasons and intentions. But as we do on soaps, Tate’s getting himself into some trouble, and it’s just a hard, hard sea to navigate.”

When Tate finally finds out what happened, will he return to the adoption process — the right way this time? Will he decide to keep his baby? Will he even stay in college or stick with Holly? We sure can’t see him going back to Sophia after learning how much she lied, but if the son they share is in the picture, anything is still possible.

“Tate’s a mess,” Martsolf warns bluntly. And Rachel? With Kristen getting tossed behind bars for six years for the EJ shooting that Rachel did, she’s “going to go through some rough water that no parent would want to see their kid go through.”

A stunned Tate gapes at Brady in the penthouse.

“Brady’s a family man,” Martsolf sighs. “He is a family man, and his family is just being ripped apart right now.” Put it all together and, “He just feels like a failed dad, because his kids don’t seem to be on an upward swing. You want to see your kids succeed, and right now, they’re both… The dynamics are just down, and Brady sees that as a reflection of himself.”

But maybe, just maybe Brady can do something to help by exposing Sophia’s lies and putting his son’s worries to rest. Until the next part of the crisis hits.

“The parental thread is being pulled pretty hard,” Martsolf admits. “But it’s fun. My whole Emmy reel this year was about fatherhood. I think parents relate to Brady right now.”

Maybe they don’t relate to quite so much extreme drama, but yeah, we have no doubt quite a few parents understand Brady’s despair over not being able to just fix all his children’s problems and keep them safe and happy. He shouldn’t be too hard on himself, though. In Salem, danger and unhappiness are just par for the course!
