EastEnders star Clair Norris lined up for ‘more glam’ role in a rival soap after show axe…
EASTENDERS star Clair Norris discussed taking on a ‘more glam’ role in a rival soap – following her Walford exit earlier this year.
Clair, 27, portrayed Bernadette Taylor in the BBC soap for eight years, bowing out in July 2025.
The character’s final scenes saw her leave Albert Square behind alongside her cousin Felix (Matthew James Morrison).
Clair spoke to The Sun, on behalf of Casino.org, where she addressed what kind of role she would be interested to portray in a rival soap.
She said: “I’d definitely like to play somebody different from Bernie.
“Maybe someone glam or maybe someone, I don’t know, rock, emo, chick.

“But yeah, something completely different would be great.
Asked whether she’d consider joining another soap, the actress answered: “Never say never!
“I love soap, and now that I’ve got quite a few years of experience in it, I really appreciate how it all works.
“Some people come into soap and don’t take to it… they find the pace too fast or the constant adapting to new lines a bit much.
“But for me, that’s what I love about it. It’s the best way of working, in my opinion. I’d definitely love to do soap again.
“For me, it’s less about which soap it is and more about the character… who they are, what they represent, and the kind of storylines they’d have.
“That would matter more than the name, because honestly, all the soaps are great. There’s no way I could choose just one!”
The Sun revealed Clair would be written out from her role as Bernie – following the departures of her closest family members.
A source said at the time: “Every time a soap gets a new boss they want to make their own changes – it’s nothing personal.
“The writing has been on the wall for Bernie for some time so it wasn’t really a surprise to Clair.
“She was the last Taylor standing and it’s time to close the chapter on them and let Clair go on to do other things.”
Another insider said: “Everyone at EastEnders loves Clair but often characters have to leave for new stories to begin, that’s the nature of soap.
“Clair will be missed but she will always be part of the EastEnders family.”
An EastEnders spokeswoman confirmed the news saying: “We can confirm that Clair will be leaving EastEnders later this year and we wish her all the best for the future.”
Bernie’s mum Karen departed in December 2023, while half-brother Keegan left Walford in 2022.
Her other half-brother Keanu was dramatically killed off as part of The Six storyline.
