Charity Dingle has been left anxious in tonight’s Emmerdale, after her plan to stop Mackenzie finding out about her tryst with Ross was at risk of seriously backfiring. We last saw the two men in yesterday’s episode with Ross moments away from exposing the truth – and although the latest installment saw Charity arriving just in time to stop him, she inadvertently brought about a major change that could still lead to the secret being revealed.

In trying to stop Ross and Mack from being mortal enemies, she sparked something much more dangerous: she made them friends.

If the two men continue to become close mates, will Ross be inclined to tell Mack what happened between him and Charity? And what will happen if and when they both find out Ross is the father of Charity’s baby?

Alone with Mack tonight, Charity chastised him for his scheme to attack Ross’s car and blame it on Kev.

“The whole idea was that him and Kev would then have a massive bust-up, Kev would leave and then it would leave Aaron and Robert to crack on again,” he explained.

“Seriously Mack, you’re a grown man. You can’t solve your problems with the plot of Despicable Me,” Charity clapped back.

She reminded him that he and Ross need to find a way to peacefully co-exist, given that they are both key figures for son Moses.

“It’s not a case of either-or. You are both in Moses’ life and I want you both to stay in Moses’ life, so stop acting like a child and stop winding Ross up. In fact, start getting on with him – for Moses’ sake.”

Mack did as he was told and went to Ross with some beers. When Charity found them later, they were still hanging out – and getting on like a house on fire.

“I wanted you to make it OK with him, not cheat on me with him,” she nervously joked.

Asked if spending time with Ross will become a “regular thing”, Mack answered: “We have had fun, to be honest. I don’t know, we might end up becoming inseparable besties, wearing each other’s clothes, telling each other our deepest, darkest secrets. Wouldn’t that be something?”

Given that Ross’s “deepest, darkest secret” is a liaison with Charity, it’s no wonder she was left looking severely rattled.

Things will heat up for the long-running character next week when Jacob Gallagher catches her in a lie about her latest baby scan.

She has been pretending that she’s carrying Sarah and Jacob’s surrogate child, but it seems the pretense is getting harder and harder to keep up.

“It’s obvious that the further the pregnancy goes along, the more Charity’s finding her guilt too much to bear,” our Emmerdale source said.
