Grey’s Anatomy fans vow to ‘start watching again’ after unexpected cast change

Grey’s Anatomy has welcomed back a fan-favourite star in season 22.

Grey’s Anatomy fans have vowed to “start watching again” after an unexpected cast change.

The long-running medical drama has finally returned for season 22 after a major cliffhanger at the end of last season, which left several fan-favourite characters in danger.

Paediatric surgeon Monica Beltran (Natalie Morales) tragically passed away after a gas explosion took place at Grey Sloan Memorial.

Monica’s exit wasn’t the only huge change this season as a huge star has returned to the hospital in a guest capacity.

One Tree Hill favourite Sophia Bush surprised viewers last week (October 23) when she made an exciting return to Grey’s.

Sophia’s character, Cass Beckman, notably ran into her ex-fling Teddy Altman (Kim Raver) in the hospital lift. The pair went on to have an uncomfortable exchange in front of Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) as Teddy pretended that she was still with her ex-husband, Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd).

Grey’s fans will know that Teddy and Cass had a short-lived fling last season while they were both in open marriages, but ultimately left things on a messy note.

After officially ending her relationship with Owen, Teddy invited Cass on an impromptu date in her new car last week, with the pair soon sharing a passionate kiss.

And it seems the romance is set to heat up tonight (October 30), with the duo seen kissing in bed together in a teaser clip, shortly before they run into Owen outside the hospital.

Grey’s fans have continued to share their delight after Sophia’s return, with many expressing their excitement on social media platforms.

“The writers know what they are doing with Cass and Teddy. Now I need them to have Sophia Bush sign on as a recurring or regular because CASS AND TEDDY NEED TO BE ENDGAME,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Another added: “Sophia is back in Grey’s Anatomy and Cass and Teddy are back too. Now I might actually start watching the series again.”

A third said: “Crying. Screaming. They are so insane for this. We won guys.”

A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: “I am LIVINGGGG for Sophia Bush on #GreysAnatomy omg. Cass and Teddy have soo much chemistry,” while others urged show bosses to make Sophia a series regular.

Cass isn’t the only character returning this season, as Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams) is set to make his anticipated comeback this week after leaving the show as a series regular in season 17.
