Luke Grimes Begins His New ‘Yellowstone’ Journey in Sneak Peek at Spin-Off Without Taylor Sheridan

Yellowstone may have ended, but the Dutton story is far from over. CBS has dropped a sneak peek (via ET) at Y: Marshals, the latest series set in Taylor Sheridan’s Western universe — though this time, Sheridan himself is not directly involved. The spinoff follows Luke Grimes’ Kayce Dutton as he sets out on a new path far from the Yellowstone Ranch, trading his cowboy hat for a Marshal’s badge.

Set after the events of Yellowstone’s final season, Y: Marshals sees Kayce leaving behind his role as Montana’s Livestock Commissioner to join an elite team of U.S. Marshals. The official synopsis teases that Kayce will “combine his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty, and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.”

Joining the new cast are Logan Marshall-Green (And Just Like That…) as Pete Calvin, one of Kayce’s old military friends, Arielle Kebbel as Belle, Tatanka Means as Miles, Ash Santos as Andrea, and Brett Cullen in a recurring role as Harry Gifford, the head of the U.S. Marshals in Montana.

What Other Yellowstone Spin-Offs Are Coming Out?

For now, though, all eyes are on Kayce Dutton as he saddles up for a new kind of frontier — one with a badge, a new team, and ghosts of the past still riding close behind.

Y: Marshals will premiere on CBS as part of the network’s midseason 2026 lineup, airing Sundays at 9/8c.
