Theo’s back on Days of Our Lives and back in Salem! Maybe for good this time around. He made his way around town on Wednesday’s episode, offering JJ a cold greeting on spotting his gun and badge, and Abe and Paulina a warm one. He’s back, he told his dad and step-mom, because he needed a change in scenery. You know, after he found out Claire had been having an affair for some time and they both got out of their non-profit business in Johannesburg. But is that really why he came back?

Because the day before, we learned that Tony was the one who brought him home to Salem — even going so far as to fly him over on the DiMera jet and send a car to take him straight to the mansion! Theo’s uncle, it turns out, has a proposal for him. But we weren’t privy to what it was.

Then cut to today, and Theo conveniently neglected to mention anything about Tony or let anyone know that his decision to return was far from made on his own! And that’s got us awfully suspicious that whatever Tony’s trying to rope Theo into isn’t on the up and up.

Our initial thought was that Tony was planning on double-crossing Gabi and offering Theo the top position at DiMera. It’s not a stretch. While Theo never really embraced his DiMera side through mom Lexie, he has been running his own company for years. And Tony’s being a bit cagey with Gabi and would certainly want to keep it all under wraps until he’s wrestled the company away from Xander and Philip.

But what if there’s something more sinister at play? We’re not saying Theo’s even aware of it, but clearly, Tony has plans for his dear, possibly soon-to-be not so departed dad. And we don’t yet know exactly what EJ and Gwen’s secret plan is either — or if Tony’s will upend theirs. As usual, there are DiMera secrets on top of secrets, possibly even competing with each other.

So will Theo be joining in on them? His new portrayer, Tyler Joseph Andrews did tease to TV Insider that Abe’s son is going to be leaning into his DiMera heritage. For better or worse! “I think the more he gets involved with the DiMera side of the family,” he shared, “he might adapt some of those attributes that you’re used to seeing with them.”

Andrews didn’t describe exactly which attributes he was talking about, but when it comes to the DiMeras, very few of them are good! Greed, obsession, drive, viciousness and underhanded schemes — if Theo’s even thinking about getting involved with Tony, whatever the plan, he could find himself drawn down an increasingly dark path.
