“Monica from start to finish- I feel very lucky to have been a small part of this legendary show and to be welcomed with such open arms by this cast and crew and massive fandom,” she captioned the Instagram post. “I loved getting to play a pediatric surgeon who cared so deeply for her patients until her last breath. Thank you to everyone at @greysabc.

Morales added, “There are more pictures I have with incredible crew I love so much but I literally look dead in them so I’m gonna keep those to myself. Ps @shondaland can u pls send me my stethoscope? I miss it.”

Season 22 of Grey’s Anatomy premiered this month on ABC, revealing Dr. Beltran as the character who died in the explosion at Grey Sloan that happened in the Season 21 finale. Morales told Deadline she felt “obviously a mix of things” departing the show.

“I’ve been so lucky to be a part of this show, and I feel very grateful to have been a part of it,” she said. “I think the fandom of this show has been so kind to me and so welcoming, and I think those people that have been welcoming to me are going to be pissed. I’m sorry about that.

“But I also think that Meg [Marinis] is an incredibly talented writer and showrunner, and I will say one of the best people I’ve ever worked with, truly. She was so kind and so on top of it all the time that when she told me the plan, I was like, Oh, that feels right. I get why you’re doing that, and it makes sense to me. Although I’m sad about it, it really works for the story,” added Morales.
