Coronation Street fans think they figured out who has killed Theo Silverton.

The world’s longest-running TV soap has been under countless radical format changes in recent times, the latest of which saw Theo’s death the conclusion of a mystery that was teased earlier this year with a flashforward.

But in a first for the programme, Theo was one of five villains and, along with Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn), Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown), or Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard), and viewers did not know until Friday who would be killed off.

Theo Silverton was the one to face the chop – having been found dead at the bottom of some scaffolding by teenager Betsy Swain. In the programme, the character was at the heart of a long-running storyline which saw him abuse his partner Todd Grimshaw (Theo Silverton) both physically and mentally, in dramatic scenes that ultimately ended in Theo’s demise.

On Monday night, Christina Boyd, Summer Spellman, Gary Windass, Danielle Silverton, and George Shuttleworth were all revealed as official suspects, with each of them having a unique connection to Theo.

But fans have immediately decided that the true culprit is not part of the lineup at all, and think it could in fact be Theo’s son Miles, who was introduced early on in the storyline, following his brief appearance the night before.

One fan wrote: “Unusual to see Theo’s son, Miles, appear on the street for barely two minutes with no real purpose, only to walk off in disgust at his dad. Might be time to add Miles to the suspect list,” and a second said: “my money is on Miles killing his dad in #corrie”

A third joked: “Can’t wait to sit through weeks of a “whodunnit” for a character nobody care about, just for the killer to be some random like Miles.”

It all comes after James Cartwright, who has previously had roles on The Story of Tracy Beaker and Downton Abbey, spoke about his permanent exit from the soap.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror, he said: “”When residents of Weatherfield decide you’ve gotta go, you’ve gotta go. Something needs to happen to him. He can’t go on like that, we need justice.

“Whether thats Corrie’s own brand of justice or the courts, something has got to be done about it. He’s got to go. Something needs to happen to that man, whether it’s this week or six months, 12 months, something along the lines has to happen to Theo.”

Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
