Coronation Street has confirmed the whereabouts of Jodie Ramsey after the dramatic events of Murder Week. The mysterious character, who turned up as the long-lost sister of Shona Platt in the soap’s crossover with Emmerdale earlier this year, seems hell-bent on ruining life for everyone at number eight.

The world’s longest-running TV soap, which has tried various new storytelling gimmicks in recent years, left fans wondering if Jodie would be killed off, having been named as a potential victim alongside a host of fellow villains in a flashforward that aired earlier this year.

In the end, it was scaffolder Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) who died and Jodie (Olivia Frances Brown) made it out alive, but disappeared after unsuccessfully trying to seduce her brother-in-law David Platt, and hitting his sister Sarah over the head, knocking her out cold.

In the days that have followed, an investigation has been launched to try and discover where Jodie had disappeared to after finding her blood on the scene. David has come clean to Shona about how Jodie tried to seduce him, and he faced an interview with DC Kit Green, who is in a relationship with David’s sister Sarah, after they discovered a voicemail where Jodie pretended to reject David’s advances.

David protested: “She’s a fantasist. Well, she’s a missing fantasist. Look, I’ve told you about the whole tricking me into bed thing, she’s nuts, she’s whole hazelnuts.” Kit, who is also conducting the interviews for the murder of Theo at the same time, said: ” Right, all that notwithstanding, her blood’s been found at your home, and we’ve not heard a peep from her for three days.

“Well, presumably, you’re here to assure you’re innocent. But three days too late and a dollar short.” Later on, Shona and David were in the hospital visiting their daughter Harper, who was born prematurely, and it was confirmed that police had kept hold of David’s phone amid the investigation.

Shona then left her long-lost sister a voicemail and, Jodie appeared in the next scene. She was sitting on a swing at the Weatherfield Precinct, with her hood up to conceal her identity, and listened to the voicemail.

She then grinned mischievously to herself as she played the Spice Girls track 2 Become 1 through her headphones and the song blared directly into the background of the scene. During her time so far on the cobbles, Jodie has been seen exhibiting odd behaviour, such as stealing random items from members of the community and pretending to be Shona at the hospital.

Last week, Jodie was visited by two men, credited only as Bloke 1 and Bloke 2, who appeared at number eight and demanded a USB stick, but she is yet to reveal what was on there.

Fans quickly took to Reddit to react to Jodie’s sudden reappearance, with one writing: “Producers have maybe over-estimated how long viewers are willing to follow a character whose motivations and history are unknown so her actions usually make no sense.”

Another said: “How is she still lurking about? They can’t find her, yet she’s in the park? Shouldn’t she still be working at the café? Is she missing shifts?” A third wrote: “She came from nowhere with a seemingly major storyline – that none of us can make head nor tail of. And have all lost interest in. Her only saving grace is giving us more David airtime. Him being bamboozled and outplayed has been pretty entertaining tbf.”

Another was simply left wondering why 2 Become 1, which became Christmas number one for Geri Halliwell, Mel B, Melanie C, Emma Bunton and Victoria Beckham in 1996, was included in the episode and wondered if it was a hint at an upcoming affair.

They wrote: “I was just more confused as to why a random Spice Girls track appeared as incidental music. I love the Spice Girls but what on earth was 2 Become 1 supposed to mean? Is it some clunky way of confirming that she’s going to try to steal David once and for all?”
