Jodie Ramsey and Daniel Osbourne on Coronation Street are set for an unexpected storyline, as secrets and troubles are exposed.

In the fallout to murder week, we see Jodie forced to face up to her actions. Elsewhere, Daniel is secretly spiralling in the fallout to his girlfriend Megan Walsh being exposed as a child abuser.

With Daniel unaware of her sexually abusing her teenaged pupil and also being let down in such a huge way, he’s said to be in a dark place. With Jodie also left out in the cold after her behaviour, Corrie boss Kate Brooks has revealed something fans “won’t see coming” will be on the cards.

She revealed an unexpected friendship blossoms between these two characters, which given they’ve barely had any screen time together it is totally random. Speaking to The Mirror, Kate revealed it’s the start of a storyline that sees them lean on each other during their separate turmoil.

Kate said: “Jodie’s story will dovetail off into Daniel’s story as well. An unlikely little friendship will be formed, which I don’t think many people see coming, but it’s a really different insight into what makes them both tick.

“For the first time, Daniel’s able to be truthful about how he feels. And similarly, Jodie’s able to be quite truthful with Daniel, because he’s in a quite a dark place.

“There’s some interesting dynamics between them.” Whether it continues or even leads to more is yet to be seen, while Kate also revealed how dark things could get for Daniel.

She said: “He met somebody who’s on the same page as a teacher, apparently respectable, and he’s been completely duped by it, and it completely makes him unravel. Rob Mallard who plays Daniel is such a phenomenal actor and we’ll see him slowly start to lose it, because of wondering who to trust.

“He’s been bitten so badly by this relationship, and by the fact that he was the one who defended her as well, he feels like he’s let Will down. He feels like he’s let Bertie down. We’re really going to chart the impact she’s had on him and his life and his attitude to relationships going forward..”

It comes as spoilers for next week reveal Jodie and Daniel’s plot kicks off, after she believes he’s on holiday and decides to hide out at his flat. But when she lets herself in she realises Daniel is there.

Jodie makes out that she found his spare key on the pavement and was simply returning it. Daniel’s disbelieving and orders her out, not wanting anyone to know he’s not really away at the Lakes.

When Jodie threatens to tell his family and explains that she’s nowhere else to go, will Daniel let her stay? It seems so, and it seems they keep each other’s secrets and perhaps open up to one another, according to Kate. Jodie lies that she’s staying at a mate’s house, while she keeps up Daniel’s lie about his holiday too.
