‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Sneak Peek: Link Faces a Crisis of Faith in Midseason Return

We are heading into a crisis situation in the Grey’s Anatomy Season 22 winter premiere. Jo (Camilla Luddington) is in emergency surgery after an undiscovered heart condition sent her into premature labor in the fall finale. At the end of the episode, Jo was coding, and her twin babies needed a C-section for any chance of survival.
Link (Chris Carmack) doesn’t know how bad things have turned in the OR when the winter premiere kicks off, but he’s aware that his very pregnant wife is undergoing life-altering surgery. So, obviously, he’s pretty stressed and looking for ways to cope in some very unlikely places.
Link grew up in a very religious household and doesn’t hold any religious beliefs. But, in an exclusive sneak peek of the Jan. 8 midseason premiere, he finds himself in the hospital’s church. He’s following Jo’s advice after she told him she prayed for him following the hospital explosion (Can you believe that was only earlier this season?). Link is struggling to find comfort in prayer as his wife did, but Richard (James Pickens Jr.) is there to help him out.
Richard also grew up religious, but he understands Link’s hesitation to believe in a higher power. The sage former chief of surgery counsels Link to have faith in the people he and Jo have surrounded themselves with if he can’t find faith in the powers of the universe. Link knows that every doctor at Grey Sloan will rally to save his wife if need be. That’s where he needs to focus, and let his very capable friends take care of this couple that has very much earned a break.
We’ll see if Richard’s advice, and Link’s faith, can help Jo pull through this terrifying ordeal.
Grey’s Anatomy Season 22 returns on Thursday, Jan. 8 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC. Episodes are available to stream the next day on Hulu.
