It’s ‘Inbetwixt-mas’, that void of time and space between Christmas and New Year. The good bit is that we can still eat chocolate for breakfast, the bad bit is losing track of days and the change in schedules for soaps like Coronation Street. But don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!

We’re on the final stretch as we hurtle toward the epic Corriedale crossover in the New Year, which will see our favourite Weatherfield locals team up with the folks from Emmerdale in a first-of-its-kind episode for the ITV soaps.

But before that, there is still plenty more drama to be had on the cobbles!

Around this time of year, the TV schedules are all over the shop, so you’d be forgiven for tuning in for Corrie’s usual time slot and being shocked to find something else on in its place.

In a bid to prevent that as much as possible, we’ve got a handy guide to let you know exactly when Coronation Street will be on this week.

When is Coronation Street on this New Year?

Coronation Street will air at the following times over this week:

  • Monday, December 29: 8 – 8.30pm
  • Tuesday, December 30: 8 – 8.30pm
  • Wednesday, December 31: 8 – 9pm
  • Thursday, January 1: 8 – 9pm
  • Friday, January 2: 8 – 9pm

From Monday, January 5, the ITV soap schedules will change permanently, with Coronation Street set to air at 7.30pm on weeknights for 30 minutes, following a 30-minute instalment of Emmerdale at 7pm.

This will create what bosses are calling a ‘soap power hour’ and will be kicked off by Corriedale, which will air after both soaps on January 5, hitting our screens at 8pm.

What is happening on Coronation Street this New year?

As ever, Coronation Street delivered an incredibly dramatic Christmas week, as the dangerously unhinged Becky Swain (Amy Cudden) finally has Carla Connor (Alison King) exactly where she wants her…

…at her almost non-existent mercy and gagged and bound in a cupboard.

Sensing victory within her grasp in their war over the heart of Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) and after a failed escape attempt from Carla, will Becky seek a more permanent solution to her Carla problem?

The scales well and truly fell from Abi Webster’s (Sally Carman-Duttine) eyes when she realised that the man she’s completely upended her life for, Carl (Jonathan Howard) has been cheating on her with James Bailey (Jason Callender).

Apparently she didn’t get the memo; ‘if he’ll cheat with you, he’ll cheat on you’.

Teaming up with the perennially toxic Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford), Abi wants revenge. But how far is she willing to go?

The Driscoll family imploded over Christmas, when Maggie Driscoll (Pauline McLynn) cruelly exposed Eva Price’s (Catherine Tyldesley) abortion secret, leading to a punch up between Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) and Ben Driscoll (Aaron McCusker).

Finding herself expelled, Maggie has since been welcomed home, but will her scheming to utterly destroy her daughter-in-law carry on? Will her new alliance pay dividends?

New alliance? The one she forged with grandson Will Driscoll (Lucas Hodgson-Wale) after she helped frame a homeless man for his vicious attack on Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), jealous over his burgeoning relationship with his paedophile coach, Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), who’s been grooming him.
