Vicky Myers has declared ‘what a year’ as the Coronation Street star was given another boost before the year is out, ahead of celebrating a fresh milestone.

The actress best known for playing DS Lisa Swain in the ITV soap, a role she made her debut in back in 2021 after two previous guest appearances on the cobbles.

Viewers will recall that the detective sergeant was first brought in to investigate the shocking hate crime assaults on Nina Lucas and her boyfriend Seb Franklin, which led to the latter’s death.

She was then seen working on a number of other cases. However, it wasn’t until early last year that Vicky was signed as a regular cast member, with Lisa having been part of the Weatherfield action ever since, having struck up a relationship with Carla Connor.

Ahead of marking two years since bagging a regular contract, and five since her debut as Lisa, Vicky was given a boost from fans as she picked up a number of awards in the Digital Spy Reader Awards – including the gong for Best Actor.

Resharing the news to her Instagram Story, Vicky shared: “Thank you @digitalspy. Wo, what a year! Thank you so much. Huge thanks to everyone who voted and congratulations @coronationstreet.” She then added: “#moretocomesoon.”

It comes after Vicky spoke to the Manchester Evening News about being part of the upcoming crossover between Corrie and Emmerdale. Title Corridale, the one-off special will see the two worlds collide in the most dramatic of circumstances at the start of the New Year.

The hour-long epsiode will air on Monday, January 5, at 8pm on ITV and ITVX to launch of the network’s new ‘soap power hour’ scheduling pattern for the two shows, which will air in half-hour instalments every weeknight.

As a way of marking the occasion, producers, scriptwriters and production teams from both of the shows have conceived an ingenious way of linking the two universes, with characters then returning to the soaps they are renowned for inhabiting in Manchester and Yorkshire, but with the horror that unfolds linking them forever.

It was previously revealed that a catastrophic multi-vehicle pile-up would be at the centre of the drama, leaving the lives of those from the cobbles and the Dales at risk.

And talking to us at premiere of Corriedale at The National Science and Media Museum in Bradford, the UK City of Culture 2025, Vicky shared her reaction to being involved in what is set to be an historic TV event – which now has a 40-strong character cast list.

“It’s safe to say that this is a history making, ground-breaking episode,” she told us. “It’s a chance for a lot of storylines to come to their conclusion and for a lot of new storylines to startbranching out and involving different characters. I knew I was involved because we had a call with Kate [Brooks, Corrie producer] and we had that discussion which was absolutely incredible.

“So to think over the past couple of years [with her signing a regular contract in early 2024], I would never have said that was even a thing. So, it’s an honour and a real privilege.”
