Opposites attract in a brand-new look at this week’s episode of Boston Blue, but it might not be between who you’d expect. Today, Collider is excited to show off a blossoming romance between two very different personalities on the Blue Bloods spin-off as Danny’s (Donnie Wahlberg) son, rookie cop Sean (Mika Amonsen), finds himself falling for an unlikely suspect — literally. Set for an arrival on Friday, November 21, during the 10 p.m. slot on CBS, the episode titled “Code of Ethics” promises to continue delivering the drama and action that has raked in viewers by the boatload over the new show’s first five installments.
In our exclusive sneak peek, we see the second half of a stop made by Sean and his partner, Jonah (Marcus Scribner), during which the former is helping a young woman named Penny (Xochitl Gomez) recover from an accident. As Sean apologizes for what happened, Penny gets sassy with the on-duty officer, but they quickly find they have plenty in common thanks to their shared love of comic books — specifically Sergio Aragones’ Groo the Wanderer. Immediately smitten, Sean gets his flirt on, but is interrupted by Jonah, who pulls him aside to tell him that he’s wooing a felon. After running her paperwork, Jonah discovered that Penny is on probation thanks to her involvement in a burglary that happened two years ago. Eager to prove themselves while also attempting to keep the spark going, the rookie cops devise a plan to get the truth from Penny about her whereabouts while also potentially getting Sean a date.
With a full hour of storytelling, Boston Blue’s upcoming episode won’t only focus on the nighttime patrolling adventures of Jonah and Sean, but will also weave in several other characters into the fold. As per the episode’s logline, “Marie Baez (Marisa Ramirez), Danny and Lena (Sonequa Martin-Green) hunt down a serial home invader… Meanwhile, Mae (Gloria Reuben) and Sarah (Maggie Lawson) uncover a troubling leak that could upend the justice system.” Indeed, it sounds like there will be enough drama to go around for everyone on this week’s installment of Boston Blue.
‘Boston Blue’s Off to the Races Success
Celebrating its grand debut on October 17, the last month has been a solid one for the long-awaited Blue Bloods spin-off. The series, which sees Wahlberg’s Danny Reagan relocating from The Big Apple to Boston to be closer to his son, Sean, has kept audiences on their toes and perfectly mixed the old with the new. With viewership numbers looking promising, the series hit a high note shortly after its premiere when it smashed its Rotten Tomatoes score, beating out its beloved predecessor. With plenty more episodes to go, the future is looking incredibly bright for the first season of Boston Blue and beyond.
