Debbie Allen’s ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Family Celebrate Her Oscar Win

Debbie Allen just received her very first Academy Award — and now she’s celebrating with her Grey’s Anatomy co-stars!

In a photo shared by Allen’s castmate Kim Raver, the multi-hyphenate posed with her trophy alongside the long-running medical drama’s cast and crew.

“It was take your Oscar to work day at #GreysAnatomy 🤩,” Raver captioned the post. “HUGE congrats to @therealdebbieallen on receiving your Oscar (at the 16th Annual Governors Awards this week) 👏👏👏 ‘Trailblazer’ indeed!! We all love you so much!! ❤️.”

A video posted to X also shows the group surprising Allen with a standing ovation at the table read for season 22 episode 10 of the series, which is currently filming.

Allen has played Dr. Catherine Fox on the show since season 8 in 2011, and also directed several episodes before becoming an executive producer during season twelve.

At the 2025 Governors Awards on Sunday, Nov. 16, Allen received an Honorary Oscar for lifetime achievement.

The award honored her decades-long career as a choreographer, dancer, director, and actress across film, television, and theater. Tom CruiseDolly Parton, and Wynn Thomas also received Honorary Oscars at the star-studded ceremony.

Throughout Allen’s decades-long career, she’s won numerous awards — including a Golden Globe for her role on the television series Fame. She’s performed on Broadway, winning the Drama Desk Award for her portrayal of Anita in West Side Story, and is a three-time Emmy Award winner in Choreography. She is also the founder of the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, a non-profit organization offering dance classes to children in Los Angeles.
