The actress also detailed in her post that she felt so happy to have been a part of the iconic franchise. She praised the cast, crew, and fans for being so kind to her. She explained her gratitude to have been able to play a character who “cared so deeply for her patients until her last breath.“
Dr. Betran passed away in the first episode of Grey’s Anatomy season 22 after the massive explosion in Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. The destructive incident was caused by a patient’s mother, Jenna Gatlin, threatening the doctors with acetylene gas if they didn’t help her son immediately. While the doctors did help him, the gas still leaked throughout the hospital, which triggered the accident.
The pediatric surgeon was trapped underneath a surgical light fixture while she was performing a surgery. She managed to walk intern, Jules Millin, through the operation successfully. While Jules and the child survived, Beltran unfortunately died from internal bleeding before the firefighters arrived to rescue them.
Morales joined the series as a guest star in season 20, episode 3 (Walk on the Ocean). She became a recurring character shortly after her first appearance.
