Days of Our Lives’ newest star Tyler Joseph Andrews is bringing Theo Carver back to Salem, but the actor has revealed that he almost joined the soap in a very different role.

Andrews was recently interviewed by TV Insider, during which he revealed that he had previously auditioned for the hit series back in 2023.

The actor shared, “I had actually auditioned for Tate, and I screen-tested with Ashley Puzemis.” The role ultimately went to former Disney star Leo Howard.

He then went on to explain how thankfully this wasn’t the end of his Days journey. “I ended up not getting it, and I really wanted the job. A couple months later, I auditioned again, but they didn’t really tell me who I was auditioning for.”

Andrews was paired with soap newcomer Marissa Eyes for his audition, “Then about a week later, they let me know that I got the job.” That would ultimately be revealed to be a legacy character as well, Theo Carver.

Andrews explained his reaction to the news, sharing, “I was really happy because the first time that I had auditioned, I told my agent, ‘Look out for the email, ’cause I think I might get this one.’ And then when it didn’t happen, I was disappointed, so I was really grateful that they ended up calling me back in the audition once more.”

Who is Theo Carver?
Theo Carver is the son of Abe and Lexie Carver. Born on May 29, 2003 and was last seen in 2023. Theo has been portrayed by seven actors over the course of his existence. Most notably Kyler Pettis and most recently portrayed by Cameron Johnson.

Theo’s had various on-screen romances over the years, with his biggest relationships being with Ciara, Claire, and Chanel. Most recently it was revealed that Theo and Claire had broken up. Leaving a single Theo to arrive back in Salem.

Fans may be wondering what brings the fan-favorite character back to town. Theo has multiple family members in town, ranging from his father and step-mother, Abe and Paulina, to his uncle’s (E.J. and Tony), and their children. With the battle for Titan DiMera looming, fans won’t have to wait long to see how Theo will play a part as the soap builds towards an exciting fall season.
