The spinoffs will offer insight into how things are progressing for Yellowstoneâs modern-day characters after the original series ended. Kayce Duttonâs Yellowstone spinoff, Y: Marshals, is poised to be the first in succession. However, several others are also approaching series debuts, potentially making 2026 a massive year for Yellowstone ahead of Taylor Sheridanâs Paramount exit, which will impact the franchise.
Yellowstoneâs Modern Story Returns on March 1

Itâs confirmed that Yellowstoneâs story will continue in March, if not sooner, with Kayce Duttonâs (Luke Grimes) Yellowstone series, Y: Marshals, poised to premiere on the first of the month (per Variety). The series, a procedural for CBS, will continue the story of John Duttonâs youngest son as he finds a new path as an elite US Marshall.
1923 Season 2 premiered in February this year. However, the story didnât continue the modern Dutton familyâs story. Fans still donât know what happened to Kayce and Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly) after the curtain went down on Yellowstone Season 5, Part 2 last November, which gave John Duttonâs family fitting, albeit temporary, endings to their respective stories.
The spinoff could have a different tone and feel, since Spencer Hudnut will serve as the seriesâ showrunner. Sheridan, Yellowstoneâs writer and executive producer, has also been the showrunner for his series in the past, putting Kayceâs show in new territory. That said, Hudnut has experience with procedurals that feature military themes, having previously served as the SEAL Teamâs showrunner.
Several Yellowstone Spinoffs Are Due for Series Premieres in 2026

Life hasnât stopped unfolding for the Dutton family since the flagshipâs conclusion. Kayceâs story, the Yellowstone franchiseâs inaugural procedural, will finally explain how the original story continues. Fans may have to wait longer to know exactly what happened to Beth Dutton. However, Bethâs story could also continue in 2026, making it the year of Yellowstone.
Thereâs also a more elusive Yellowstone spinoff that could be available next year. A modern-day Yellowstone story starring Michelle Pfeiffer, titled The Madison, will tell the story of a New York family relocating to Montanaâs Madison River Valley after a tragedy. While thereâs no official premiere date yet, the program is ripe for a series premiere.
Pfeiffer plays Stacy Clyburn, the matriarch of a new Yellowstone family. The Yellowstone show has also cast Kurt Russell, who will seemingly play a Season 2 character. Russellâs addition was announced after production for The Madison Season 1 concluded, with some reports that Season 2 is already in production. While nothing is official, The Madisonâs premiere shouldnât be far off.
How Taylor Sheridanâs Paramount Exit Affects Yellowstoneâs Future

Seeing momentum in the Yellowstone universe on the horizon is exciting, considering the recent announcement that, after his contract is up, Taylor Sheridan will exit Paramount after making a deal with NBCUniversal. The Yellowstone executive producer has a contract with Paramount+âs company through the end of 2028, after which he is poised to leave and start anew.
While some of Sheridanâs best shows could fizzle out, fortunately, at least as many as three Yellowstone spinoffs could debut in 2026. Though shows without Sheridan serving as showrunner, like Y: Marshals and The Dutton Ranch, have a better chance of surviving his Paramount exit, ones heâs essential to, like The Madison, need as much runway as possible.
