Emmerdale’s Sarah Sugden actress Katie Hill has spilled the beans on her character’s secret wedding plans, after another wedding twist aired at Christmas on the ITV soap

There’s more wedding bells planned on Emmerdale in upcoming episodes on the ITV soap. Just days on from a surprise visit to the registry office for one pairing “ruining” another couple’s’ big plans, it looks as though Sarah Sugden and Jacob Gallagher are set to wed.

A baby secret could soon leave the pair devastated, but in the meantime it seems their planned gender reveal party is in fact a wedding. So when their loved ones decline to attend it sparks heartbreak for the pair.

Sarah actress Katie Hill explained: “Well they are trying to make sure all the important people to them are available. However they are having some difficulty with doing this, as no one is prioritising them right now.

“They have set it up as a baby gender reveal party even though it’s actually their wedding. It definitely made her feel upset as Charity and Pollard are the most important people to Sarah and Jacob.

“But I don’t think she questions Charity too much as she comes up with the excuse of having a work meeting but she is definitely disheartened to hear she can’t or won’t change her plans.” What Sarah is yet to uncover that her surrogate Charity is not carrying her baby after all.

Sarah and Jacob are under the impression that after an embryo transfer earlier this year, her grandmother Charity is pregnant with their child. She’s yet to find out that after the procedure failed, Charity slept with former flame Ross Barton, and is now pregnant with his child.

Katie confessed Sarah has no clue that Charity is hiding something so huge. She said: “I think she has probably noticed Gran has not been her usual self sometimes. However she puts it down to the fact Gran is stressing about wanting everything to be okay with the baby.

So I think it brushes past her. She is also so loved up and excited for this next chapter so that is what’s driving her to stay positive about everything.” Soon the couple are more preoccupied with their own secret wedding being “ruined” by the shocking marriage of Jacob’s grandfather Pollard and Kerry Wyatt.

Katie shared: “They’re massively in shock as this was the last thing they expected to see just before they were about to get married. It completely ruined their day as their special moment was now taken away. It was fun filming it though and I hope the audience like watching this shock.

“Sarah completely understands why he is hurt and wants to be there to support him.” Charity saves the day though, planning them a surprise New Year’s Day ceremony.

Katie reacted: “She honestly can’t believe it. It’s a dream come true for Sarah. She is finally getting her winter wedding she’s always wanted just as she thought it was never going to happen. It’s the best thing ever for her.

“We have these lovely scenes where they walk into the pub together all dressed up. It is a total surprise for them the Woolpack has all been decorated. It was like a dream come true.”

Katie also discussed whether the baby secret could be let out in the open. She said: “I can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next. It’s been such a great storyline to play so far and it’s definitely a unique storyline that I think I can say has never been done before! All of us involved talk about how much we can’t wait to see where this all goes.

“I hope she gets a happy ending after everything she’s been through. As for it to all fall apart would be so sad for her, however it’s a very complicated situation and we don’t know how Sarah would feel about the baby if she finds out the truth.”
